East Village, the former London 2012 Athletes’ Village, is to be part of the world’s largest annual architecture festival. From 1st – 30th June the London Festival of Architecture (LFA) will have a presence in E20 with a spatial installation exploring the theme of ‘identity’. With all of Get Living’s buildings in East Village showcasing a different architectural approach, there is no better place to host the LFA installation.
Get Living, the build-to-rent trailblazer behind East Village, has commissioned the installation on Victory Parade to mark its 5th anniversary. Created by designers Pidgin Perfect in collaboration with Tenement, ‘Subtle Shifts’ will encourage East Village residents and visitors to make it their own, finding their own uses for the space.
As a determining operator in the property market as well as a community creator, Get Living believes in continuous innovation. Through events and activities, it works to add value to the neighbourhood, strengthening connections between people and the place they live in.
Charlotte Fletcher, General Manager at East Village, says: “E20 is a new neighbourhood, so the theme of ‘identity’ for this year’s festival was extremely fitting for East Village. Over the last five years we’ve worked to create a new identity for the former Athletes’ Village by bringing in independent retailers and nurturing an environment that people can call home. ”

Throughout June, the LFA will host over 400 events across the capital. A programme of exhibitions, family events, walking tours, debates and stunning architectural installations – including Get Living’s ‘Subtle Shifts’ – will explore how subtle changes made to space can lead to wider long-term shifts in the identity of a place.
On Saturday 2nd June from 3pm – 4.30pm, ‘Subtle Shifts’ will officially launch with a talk from four creative experts across architecture and planning to discuss this year’s theme. The outdoor event is an opportunity for the audience to learn more about the theme, ask questions and network with the invited guests.
